There are no translations available.

As an emulsion in water, aPVAc emulsions are used as adhesives for mostly porous materials, especially for wood, paper, and cloth (cotton), and as a primer or coating for porous building stone, sucha as sandstone.

Example applications

Known as:

  • as wood glue
  • as "white glue"
  • yellow "carpenter's glue"
  • PVA glue.
  • as paper adhesive
  • paper packaging converting adhesive
  • in bookbinding,
    •  flexible strong bond
    • non-acidic base (unlike many other polymers). in handcrafts
  • envelope adhesives
  • wallpaper adhesives

The stiff homopolymer PVAc, but mostly a compound with the more soft copolymer a combination of vinyl acetate and ethylene, vinyl acetate ethylene (VAE), is used also in very many paper coatings, colour-paint and other industrial coatings, as binder in nonwoven materials and in glass fibers such as sanitary napkins, filter paper and in textile finishing, where The Netherlands have tremendous historical knowledge.

Besides Polyvinyl acetate Intercol has a broad range of Polymers available such as Polyvinyl alcohol and Polyvinyl acetate phthalate (PVAP)
