PSA hot melt (Pressure Sensitive Adhesives) are specially formulated to deliver exceptional performance when used with permanent and peelable machine applied labels.
Intercol manufactures grades that provide high tensile strength, high and low peel adhesion, good clarity and exceptional UV resistance whilst handling temperatures ranging from -50°C to +100°C. As a result, labels can be relied upon to securely bond paper, metal foil, plastic film, fabric and non-woven labels to the most difficult glass, paper, board, metallic and ceramic surfaces.
PSA hot melt adhesives are widely used in the production of self-wound, finger lift, double sided and reinforced adhesive tapes alongside bags, envelopes and self-adhesive films for graphic arts panels and point-of-sale materials. Soft, high tack formulations help to provide the perfect application in adhesive insect traps.
Dry peel adhesives are also produced to allow multi-layer labels to be simply removed from packaging whilst leaving the base label underneath in-tact. These are incredibly popular in product promotion, multi-page form, medical and chemical applications.

Hot melts are mostly known as thermoplastics, unlike waterbased products, hot melts have 100% solid content. Hot melts are used because:
- It is fas setting
- It has a large bonding range
- Easily processing
PUR hot melt
Where most hot melts are thermoplastic and have their limitations in e.g. building purposes, PUR hot melts may be the better solution. PUR hot melts in general give a stronger bond on constructive materials such as wood and metal, and are farr less sensible to heat and chemicals, because PUR is reactive. Disadvantage of PUR hot melt is their price and difficult workaround.
New generation hot melt adhesives
Especially for food packaging applications, the new generation hot melt is available, with these advantages:
- non coaling
- non fuming
- less stringing
And are easy reducing adhesive consumption.
All these properties ensure endusers to realize a more efficient and cheaper production process. Hot melt Futura 1 runs on more than 90% of all food packaging applications!

New generation hot melt: Futura |
A new benchmark in performance. It was a quiet revolution. But, a revolution, none the less. In 1998, Intercol launched the ground-breaking Futura range of hot melt adhesives has established a new benchmark for performance in countless packaging, labelling, woodworking and bookbinding industry applications.

Metallocene hot melts gain more awareness in the market, following our Futura examples. Some of our Futura hot melt adhesives are based on metallocen.
