Archiving files industry - laminating foils
mappen en ordner lijmenIn the archiving industry a common application is to laminate (PVC) foils on carton board. There are several techniques to do this.

Laminating plastic foils on a porous substrate

Waterborn adhesive systems need to damp out their water before the final bond can establish. With laminating foils you need to have a second porous substrate that can take on, or let through the moisture. Possible applications are foil on carton, foil on textile or foil on wood. A many seen application is the production of Ring-folders. The innerside is a cartonboard where a PVC foil is laminated on. The adhesive needs to have a high "wettack" because of the short compression after oversetting the edges.

Laminating plastic foil with a pressure sensitive waterbased adhesive

It is also possible to bring on an adhesive layer on the plastic foil and dry this film before you bring on the second substrate. Actually you are producing an self adhesive tape inline, in the same line you are laminating a self adhesive foil. This application is many seen for the production of laminated carton board.

Other possibilities to laminate foils

Laminating foils can be done with hot-melts as well. Please see our hot-melt and product assembly section for more information about hot-melts.
